Who Are Anonymised Business?
We can't tell you who they are due to current NDA but we can tell you what we did. Not every In The Sky IT client is a small business. This one is a large UK manufacturer with several thousand staff across multiple sites, and a small but established internal IT function.
Their Microsoft 365 environment had grown the way most large environments do: organically, quickly, and faster than anyone could document. Teams and SharePoint sites had been created by whoever needed them, ownership was unclear, and there was no consistent standard for how a new workspace should be set up or what happened to it when the work it supported finished. None of this was anyone's fault. It is what happens when a platform is adopted enthusiastically and the governance is left until later.
What We Delivered

Governance framework: We designed a practical standard for how Microsoft 365 workspaces are created, owned, structured and retired, written to be applied by the client's own team rather than to sit in a folder.

Ownership and lifecycle: We established who is accountable for a workspace, what happens when that person changes role, and how a workspace is closed down cleanly when it is no longer needed.

Documentation and enablement: We documented the standard and worked alongside the internal IT team so that the framework is theirs to run and extend, rather than something that depends on us.
The Result
The client has a consistent, documented standard for its Microsoft 365 environment and an internal team equipped to apply and maintain it. New workspaces are created deliberately rather than ad hoc, and there is a clear answer to the question of who owns what.
The same thinking scales down. The principles that keep a several-thousand-seat environment coherent are the ones that stop a twenty-person organisation ending up with files in four places and nobody sure which copy is current
